GivingPlus® Frequently Asked Questions
International Lutheran Laymen's League/Lutheran Hour Ministries (LLL/LHM) is eligible for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans' matching gift program, GivingPlus®. GivingPlus is a great way for LLL/LHM donors to further support LHM's ministry of Bringing Christ to the Nations-and the Nations to the Church at no additional cost to them.
Here are some of the more frequently asked questions about GivingPlus.
Who is eligible for GivingPlus?
Thrivent Financial benefit members and individuals who own Thrivent Mutual Fund accounts or Thrivent Life Insurance Company products are eligible to participate in GivingPlus and other giving programs. Benefit members are generally Thrivent members who own an insurance or annuity product from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
How much is matched?
Thrivent Financial will supplement $1 for every $2 donated by members up to a $300 maximum supplement. So if a donor gives $600 to LLL/LHM, Thrivent will give an additional $300.
Is there a minimum gift amount that can be matched?
No.
What if I give more than once a year?
Thrivent Financial members can make multiple donations (i.e. monthly, quarterly, etc.) to LLL/LHM in a given year and Thrivent Financial will supplement each of their eligible donations. A completed GivingPlus form must be submitted with each donation. Print GivingPlus form
Will Thrivent match gifts for all of the Lutheran organizations I donate to?
Thrivent Financial will only provide supplemental dollars to two organizations per person per year. If you and your spouse are both Thrivent members, then you can each choose two organizations for matching donations, for a total of four matches from Thrivent.
Does it matter how I give my donation?
Thrivent Financial will supplement a monetary gift of cash, check, credit card, electronic funds transfer or money order. Stock or mutual fund share transfers are also eligible.
Will Thrivent supplement the gifts I gave earlier in the year?
Gifts given during the current calendar year are eligible for GivingPlus. Please include a copy of your original check with the matching gift form for those gifts.
Can my volunteer hours be matched?
When a Thrivent member contributes 25 or more hours of volunteer service to LLL/LHM, as well as an eligible GivingPlus gift to LLL/LHM, Thrivent Financial will contribute an additional $25.
What type of volunteer service is eligible for the match?
Volunteer service includes unpaid time working on projects/activities
or serving on a governing/task group for LLL/LHM. Individuals who
serve in International Lutheran Laymen's League leadership roles,
as an Ambassador, or a volunteer with Equipping to Share or Global
Work & Witness are just some of the people who are
most likely eligible for this special bonus.
