Typically mutual fund companies have their own form which is required for transfer of shares. It's important that a transfer of shares occurs into our account and not a redemption of those shares and the proceeds sent to us. This will ensure full available tax benefits for your gift. Lutheran Hour Ministries Ministry Advancement Officers are available to assist you by contacting the mutual fund company to acquire the proper form for a transfer of mutual funds. Upon receipt of the form, simply complete the donor portion of the form, which indicates number of shares (or all) to be transferred. Then sign the form, and possibly obtain a Medallion Signature Guarantee. The form is then returned to Lutheran Hour Ministries. We will then complete our portion of the form and mail it to the mutual fund company. If you would like to receive a tax deduction for this year, please make sure you initiate the transfer early, due to the fact that the gift date is the date of transfer from the donor's account to that of Lutheran Hour Ministries.
